Greene’s journey with the African Diaspora began in her youth in Atlanta, Georgia, where she engaged deeply with peers from Ethiopian, Eritrean, and Caribbean backgrounds. This early exposure sparked a lifelong passion for exploring the rich African cultures across the globe. Her academic journey brought further revelations, from uncovering the influence of Northern Africans, known as Moors, on ancient Spanish culture to exploring African legacies in Latin America and the Caribbean.

“Each step of my personal and professional journey contributes to evolving my understanding the interconnected narratives of the African Diaspora,” Greene stated. “Through Diaspora Voices, we aim to revive the spirit of the historic Black press, which sought to connect and educate our global community.”

Diaspora Voices launched on May 25, which coincides with Africa Day, a commemoration of the founding of the Organization of African Unity (now the African Union) in 1963. This date symbolizes unity and freedom for the African continent and its diaspora.

The column will feature monthly contributions that highlight the diverse experiences and shared histories of African-descended communities around the world. Through thoughtful editorials, research insights, and community stories, Diaspora Voices will foster a richer understanding and appreciation of the complexities of African Diaspora identities.

Before joining TANTV, Greene dedicated over a decade to corporate communications and human resources, always with a focus on fostering inclusive communities. Holding bachelors degrees in Sociology and Public Relations from the University of Georgia, an MBA from Southern Methodist University, and nearing completion of her doctoral studies at Howard University, Greene brings a wealth of knowledge and a unique perspective to this new role.
