Just two days after leading the U.S. women’s team to gold in the team all-around event, Biles triumphed once more in the individual all-around competition. Her victory not only marked her sixth Olympic gold but also made her the first American gymnast to win consecutive individual all-around titles.

Tokyo Olympics gold medalist, Suni Lee, joined Biles on the podium, securing bronze with a near-perfect floor routine. This event was historic as it featured two individual all-around champions from the same Games competing head-to-head.

Team USA continued its winning streak with gold medals that aided its medal table jump. In women’s fencing, the U.S. team captured its first-ever gold medal in the team foil event, toppling the favored Italian squad. This victory marks the first medal of the women’s fencing team since 2008.

In rowing, the U.S. four-man team clinched a historic gold medal, the first in rowing for the U.S. since the 1960 Rome Olympics. The American rowers outpaced New Zealand by nearly half a boat length, defying the odds to secure their place atop the podium.

Douglass’s win, her second of the Games, highlights the exceptional performance of U.S. swimmers and their significant contribution to the Olympic medal count. Today, August 2, team USA now sits in 2nd place with a total of 36 medals and only 3 gold ,medals behind China on Day 7
