At the 2024 Democratic National Convention, Michigan State Senator Mallory McMorrow delivered a powerful speech highlighting the controversial “Project 2025,” a 900-page document she described as the Republican blueprint for a potential second Trump term.
McMorrow focused on what she called the plan’s attempt to expand presidential powers to an unprecedented degree. She cited specific pages of the document, including page 535, which she claimed would allow Trump to fire civil servants who don’t serve his personal agenda.
The senator also pointed to page 873, which she interpreted as giving Trump the ability to weaponize the Department of Justice against political opponents and potentially turn the FBI into a personal police force.
McMorrow expressed concern about the legality of these proposals, referencing Trump’s claims of immunity from prosecution due to his Supreme Court appointments.
In her closing remarks, McMorrow emphasized the importance of the upcoming election, stating that electing Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in November is crucial to preventing the implementation of Project 2025.
The speech, which McMorrow delivered while holding a large book representing Project 2025, was part of the Democratic Party’s strategy to highlight what they perceive as potential threats to American democracy in a second Trump term.
As the convention continues, it’s expected that other speakers will address different aspects of Project 2025 and its potential implications for the country
