The Embassy of the Gabonese Republic in Washington D.C. will commemorate the 1st Anniversary of the Liberation Coup on August 30, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This event offers the Gabonese community in the U.S. a chance to unite and reflect on this significant milestone.
On August 30, 2023, military officers seized power in Gabon, ending the Bongo family’s 55-year rule. President Ali Bongo was placed under house arrest, and General Brice Oligui Nguema was named the transitional leader. This coup marked a turning point in Gabon’s political landscape, leading to vital reforms and the restoration of democratic principles.
H.E. Noël Nelson Messone, Ambassador of Gabon to the United States, invites all Gabonese nationals in the U.S. to join this special reception. The evening will feature speeches, cultural presentations, and opportunities for meaningful discussions about Gabon’s future.
