Meta’s social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and Threads, experienced a widespread outage on Tuesday morning, affecting many users. Facebook and Threads were notably impacted, with reports indicating that neither app was loading as of 10 a.m. ET. Users also faced issues with Instagram feeds not refreshing, although some were still able to access the app.
The outage extended to Meta-owned platforms, with users encountering difficulties around 10 a.m. ET. Some users even had trouble logging into their Meta Quest headsets. Notably, TANTV and others reported feed refresh problems. Meta officially acknowledged the issue on its status page at 10:17 a.m. ET, stating that they were aware of login issues and that their engineering teams were actively working on a resolution.
Andy Stone, Meta’s communications head, further confirmed the problem via Twitter, acknowledging the access difficulties and assuring users that Meta was actively addressing the situation. This incident is reminiscent of a similar outage in 2021 when a configuration problem caused hours-long disruptions to Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp services.
