WASHINGTON, July 21 (TANTV) – State Democratic party chairs have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the party’s new presidential nominee to run against Republican nominee and former president, Donald Trump. This decision follows President Joe Biden’s announcement that he will not seek re-election.
Ken Martin, president of the Association of State Democratic Committees, stated, “Following President Biden’s announcement, our members immediately assembled to unite behind the candidate who has a track record of winning tough elections and who is a proven leader on the issues that matter to Americans: reproductive freedom, gun violence prevention, climate protection, justice reform, and rebuilding the economy.”
The endorsement will be influential in helping Harris secure the delegates she needs to replace President Biden at the top of the ticket. This move builds on endorsements from major Democratic figures, including Biden, the Clintons, and several Democratic governors and lawmakers.
Black women across the United States are mobilizing strongly for Harris, with over 40,000 Black women participating in a “WinWithBlackWomen” virtual meeting to express their strong support for her as the party’s presidential nominee.
