The fair is to be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the Deanwood Community Center and it is open to all from age 5 to 21.

The resource fair, organized by the Deputy Mayor for Education’s Learn24 network, aims to bridge the gap between families and the wealth of afterschool and out-of-school time (OST) programs throughout the District.

Mayor Bowser emphasizes the importance of these programs in fostering a well-rounded educational experience. “Our city offers an abundance of enriching afterschool activities that not only ensure the safety of our children but also ignite their passion for learning beyond traditional classroom hours,” she states.

The Mayor highlights the diverse range of programs available, from academic support to artistic pursuits and athletic endeavors, encouraging families to find options that align with their children’s interests and familial needs. This event provides a unique platform for government agencies, nonprofits, and community organizations to showcase their offerings directly to interested families.

Attendees can expect to encounter a wide spectrum of exhibitors representing various fields. These include programs focused on college and career preparation, sports and athletics, performing arts, STEM education, entrepreneurship, and mentorship.

For families unable to attend the fair or those seeking additional information, the Learn24 network website offers a comprehensive Program Finder tool. This online resource allows families to explore and identify suitable afterschool and OST programs at their convenience.

The initiative aims to provide safe, engaging, and educational environments for children and teenagers outside of regular school hours, contributing to their overall growth and success.
