DC Hosts Annual Mayor’s Arts Awards

This year's theme, “Homecoming: Celebrating DC’s Creative Spirit,” highlights the resilience, innovation, and bold creativity that characterize Washington, DC’s artistic heritage.

Today, September 30, Mayor Muriel Bowser will host the 39th Annual Mayor’s Arts Awards with the theme “Homecoming: Celebrating DC’s Creative Spirit.”

The event which starts at 6:00 pm ET will be hosted alongside the Office of Cable Television, Film, Music, and Entertainment (OCTFME) and the Creative Affairs Office (CAO).

The event which was initially scheduled to hold on September 24 will happen at the Lincoln Theatre and multi-Grammy-nominated artist Raheem DeVaughn will host the evening.

Produced by the award-winning OCTFME and CAO, the Mayor’s Arts Awards represent the highest recognition of excellence in the arts in the District. Artists, educators, nonprofit organizations, and patrons will be celebrated across all eight wards.

The event will be broadcast live and DC residents can follow the awards by visiting mayor.dc.gov/live, tune in on Channel 16 (DCN) or watch on Mayor Bowser’s Facebook or X. The live feed is handled by OCTFME.

Guests and performers at the event include, LaToya Foster, OCTFME Director; Sunni And The City (Co-Host), EU featuring Sugar Bear, Riley Knoxx, Performance, Eastern High School Marching Band, Performance, Crank Caviar, Performance, and DCBX Live Dancers.

The Awards is one of the events in the calendar for the month-long ‘202Creates‘ dedicated to celebrating creatives in Washington, D.C.
