Beyoncé’s country-themed debut album debut made history on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. Queen Bee’s upcoming Country record is one of many anticipated albums for the year, including Ariana Grande and Normani.
Her single, “Texas Hold ‘Em” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Country Chart and No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, while “16 Carriages” reached No. 9 on the Country Chart and No. 38 on the Hot 100.
This achievement is a historic moment as no Black woman, or female known to be biracial, had ever claimed the coveted No. 1 position on this particular country chart. According to Billboard, Taylor Swift is the only other female solo artist to reach No. 1 on the Country charts.
This new era follows her Renaissance theme in reclaiming genres’ of Black origin, allowing history to be retold through the voices that have been ignored within country and house music.
However, this is not the first time that Beyonce has made history. In 2023, her Renaissance World Tour became the highest-grossing tour by any Black artist ever. She also holds the most Grammy Awards won by an artist, boasting 32 Grammys.
Beyoncé became the first female artist to sell over 1 million digital copies of an album in one week with her self-titled album “Beyoncé.”
Beyoncé also became the first female artist to have her first seven studio albums certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in 2002.
In 2010, Beyoncé made history by winning six Grammys in one night. Extending her reign, Beyoncé has become the most-awarded artist in MTV Video Music Awards history, with 29 awards.
